Competition season has come and gone, and it was another great year for the Catamount Marching Band.<br /><br />The band just wrapped up it's competitive season last Saturday at the LaFayette Marching Classic at Fayette Co. HS. The prelim and finals performances were our best yet, and it has been many years since the Catamount Band has been performing at this level. <br /><br />The band was 2nd in class, and 2nd overall. This is the highest overall placement that we have earned in quite some time. Closer drill is on the field! There is more to do before it can be performed, so we will save the debut for next Friday night. In addition to finishing closer drill last night, the band worked in some new visuals, and focused on segments of the show which are prone to timing concerns. Pregame went great on 2 takes, so once again a very productive Thursday night rehearsal.<br /><br />Next week, we continue putting the touches on the closer, and will be adding more visuals. Looking forward to seeing Harold and the Gilmer band tonight!<br /><br /><br /><br />The band has been hard at work the last 3 weeks! The first three productions of this years show are on the field, and the closer should be ready by next Friday. The colorguard will be debuting new work tonight in the second number, with a set of gorgeous blue-green, double swing flags. The colorguard is dinitely the most improved section of the band this year!<br /><br />The drumline is playing a difficult book quite well, as we have come to expect. This year's hornline is turning out to be the best yet! Despite record heat, the band learned more music than ever, and put 23 pages of drill on the field.
